JCC, age 73 Treatment-Left Hip Replacement
JCC, age 73, had left hip replacement surgery 12 years ago which was a success. Therefore, when in October 2017 she started feeling increasing pain, discomfort and lack of mobility in her right hip, she realised a new hip was very likely. Due to the NHS referral system and long waiting lists JCC suffered months and months of distressing symptoms and lack of mobility, needing a walking stick out of the house.
Meryl, age 48Treatment – Total Hip Replacement
Meryl, a former long-distance runner was persuaded by her family to visit her GP when she was 42 years old because she was in severe pain and starting to limp. Meryl’s family were concerned that the maternal line in their family had osteoarthritis; her Grandma diagnosed in her early 40s and her mother in her 70s. Meryl had also suffered a sports injury whilst running, hitting a dog and falling on her right hip when she was younger, creating an ongoing weakness.
