Deepma, a former recruitment consultant, had a spinal condition which had been going on for a few years. Deepma, age 54, had endured much pain following two prolapsed discs and having to have spinal surgery.
The surgery didn’t fully work – she still had pain in her lower back which radiated right down her right side. The scar tissue was resting on a nerve which meant that she was having real problems sitting down, resulting in her hip becoming very painful. She would go walking and limp after a while and her couldn’t sit down for any length of time.
Deepma saw Mr Vedi through Choose and Book, at BMI Clementine Churchill Hospital in Harrow and he diagnosed her with having hamstring and gluteal tendinopathy. They decided she has shockwave therapy treatment. She had four sessions in total – one or two weeks apart. Her hip was very sore, but the treatment provided longer-term relief for sustained periods of time.
Her hip then started to hurt again, so Mr Vedi gave her a PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) injection – which took a little while to work but once it did, she felt much better. With bursitis, Deepma does need ongoing treatment – but after each treatment, Deepma can stand up and sit down for longer periods and the pain is not so intense.
Deepma commented: “Despite having a number of interventions, I was still unable to sit down. Through Mr Vedi’s recommendation of having shockwave therapy and PRP treatment, he has finally made it possible for me to endure less pain and sit down for longer periods. I found Mr Vedi to be very informative, clearly explaining the options available and I found him to be incredibly helpful. I intend to carry on seeing Mr Vedi intermittently, as my condition is one that needs to be managed ongoing.”
